Day Skincare

Skintype: 30's combination
Acne prone, easily get clogged pores, oily on the t-zone, dry around the cheeks and mouth area.

Step 1:
Wash my face with a gentle cleanser. It doesn't take much to clean in the morning since I clean thoroughly at night. My skin gets too drying if I use the same foaming cleanser I use at night. During the fall/winter, I just use water to splash my face and I'll just use a cotton pad with some toner to do the cleansing.

Step 2:
Tone with
Thayers Alcohol Free Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Alcohol-free toner to remove impurities and tighten pores. I also use this as a refresher. I add it to a spray bottle and add a few drops of Heritage Vegetable Glycerin This is more economical for me since its such a big bottle and it doesn't contain harsh chemicals. This has been my permanent toner for years now. I like the muted smell of this better than the Dickinson's witch hazel. The rose scented one smells light and refreshing too.

Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner I love how moisturizing this one feels on my skin. It's a thicker consistency than regular toners. When I first used this, I thought it was a moisturizer because it almost feels like a runny serum. My skin felt smoother and moisturized on my first use. Later on I found out it's used as a toner/refiner.

Moisturize and Sun Protection:

bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer: Combination Skin Very light moisturizer for daytime. I can't really combine too much product on my skin during the day or else my face look really oily. This is just perfect before my makeup routine.
Alba Botanica Spf 45 Green Tea sunscreen (Water Resistant) This one is 100% vegetarian ingredients and no animal testing. Doesn't smell like green tea at all, but it's a good organic product to use. It's great to use especially when I'm out doing outdoor activities. Although, I do think that this sunscreen is a bit thick and I will probably not repurchase this when I'm out.

Lately, I been trying to be conscious on the products I use and put on my skin. Surprisingly, I find that most of the products I use contains parabens. A lot of the skincare and makeup products we use have parabens, even brand names that claim their products to be natural or organic. Expensive high end products that gives the image of natural contains them too. Many websites list only the ingredients that appeal to be beneficial and natural, but they don't list their ingredients. Finally, I looked at some of these bottles and they contain them. Many of the products I listed above have it too, but it didn't occur to me because I was blinded by the benefits it do to my skin. With my skin being sensitive nowadays, I want to be choosing what I buy carefully and reading the ingredient labels. As soon as I finish these products, I will most likely not repurchase and start trying other products that contains less ingredients, chemicals, and preservatives. I'm slowly trying to go with natural products.
